Last Tuesday, I woke up to a terrible surprise. Water covered the kitchen floor. I looked under the sink and saw a broken pipe. Water poured out quickly.
I turned off the water supply immediately. Then I called my neighbour, Mr. Brown. He came over and looked at the pipe carefully.
“This looks bad,” he said. “You could call a plumber, but it might cost a lot. Or you could try to fix it yourself. I could help you if you like.”
I agreed, and we went to the hardware store. We bought a new pipe, some tape, and a few tools. Mr. Brown explained everything patiently. He showed me how to remove the old pipe and attach the new one.
We worked together for two hours. At first, I did it wrong, and water leaked again. But Mr. Brown showed me again, and finally the pipe was fixed. I cleaned the floor and dried everything thoroughly.
I thanked Mr. Brown many times. He smiled and said, “Next time, you could check the pipes more often. Then you might avoid this problem.”
